Scent of Magic (Healer #2)
As the last Healer in the Fifteen Realms, Avry of Kazan is in a unique position: in the minds of her friends and foes alike, she no longer exists. Despite her need to prevent the megalomanical King Tohon from winning control of the Realms, Avry is also determined to find her sister and repair their estrangement. And she must do it alone, as Kerrick, her partner and sole confident, returns to Alga to summon his country into battle.
Though she should be in hiding, Avry will do whatever she can to support Tohon’s opponents. Including infiltrating a holy army, evading magic sniffers, teaching forest skills to soldiers and figuring out how to stop Tohon’s most horrible creations yet; an army of the walking dead—human and animal alike and nearly impossible to defeat.
War is coming and Avry is alone. Unless she figures out how to do the impossible ... again.
EDIT:You.did.not.just.leave.me.with.that.ending... Grrrr!!Apart from my strong resentment towards the cliffhanger, this book had so much to deliver. Gotta sleep on it and then write a review.Prior-to-release-edit:Is that...Is that hot guy in the background Kerrick? I had imagined longer hair but HOT dayum!

Re-read: 07.06.2018 We're back with Avry of Kazan (21), who is a healer; she absorbs their wounds and diseases into herself by laying hands upon the injured and dying. The first novel, Touch of Power, was a great introduction to the newest series by this prolific writer, but much like what happened for me with her Study series, the sequel left a lot to be desired. It took me a while to sort out how I felt about this novel after finishing it, especially deciding on the rating. 3 stars? 2.5? I just split the difference and settled with
AHH THIS BOOK THE ENDING MADE ME WANNA TEAR THE ENTIRE GALAXY APART I literally swear under my breath xD I didn't enjoy this book as much as I did with the first one, I thought the plot really drags on a lot. But I still like it :)
I don't want to say I'm disappointed in this book...but I'm a little disappointed in this book. I feel it suffered from the middle book syndrome a little. Hopefully the next one is better!
Scent of Magic is the second book in Maria V. Snyders Healer series, and I devoured it in no time at all. As soon as I was finished with Touch of Power, I jumped in and I was unwilling to put it down until I knew how things developed. With Scent of Magic, the world we were introduced to in the first book develops in interesting way. We get to follow both Avry and Kerrick, as their stories take us in different directions. As much as I loved the little insights into what was going on with Kerrick,

Review: Once again I was swept into the world of Avry, Kerrick, and the rest of the characters as they experience love, loss and many adventures. I almost wish I had waited to read this second book of the Healer trilogy until the third book was out, just because of the way this book ended! Scent of Magic starts off with Avry and Kerrick going their separate ways in hopes of being able to get a bigger army together to go up against Tohon and his army. AT first I was worried this meant way lessEDIT:You.did.not.just.leave.me.with.that.ending... Grrrr!!Apart from my strong resentment towards the cliffhanger, this book had so much to deliver.
