What a lovely book. It's perhaps not as deep and thoughtful as Interview or Memnoch, but it's solid. Anne Rice has still got it. It's been a while since I last read Queen of the Damned, but I never felt lost at any point in this book. It's like no time had passed and every character was just as familiar as they had been years and years ago when I had first gotten into this series.I like the multiple voices. This book has the same structure as Queen of the Damned, which is nice because not onlyKnowing when to stop can a blessing. A concept that seems to elude Anne Rice for many years now. Horrible novel, very poorly written. 80% is wasted on back stories that (to any Vampire Chronicle aficionado) reveal nothing new. The plot matches the writing. The portrayal of Lestat is just as alien as it has been in Blackwood farm and Blood canticle. I suggest to get a free copy off the internet if you want to subject yourself to yet another disappointment ala Rice. Do not waste good money on
