Narration To Books Die Räuber
Describe Books In Favor Of Die Räuber

(Note: I did not read this in German, but I think that the needless anglicizing of "Karl" and "Franz" to "Charles" and "Francis" was "unnotig Scheibe eines Pferdes")You can look up the details: German play. 1781. Influenced: Doestoyevsky, Nietzsche, et. al. It's hard not to have run across Schiller and Die Rauber. But have you read it? I had a little anxiety before beginning this one because it fell into the "works that I would like to say that I've read, but I'm afraid will be a little datedOh dear where to start with this play? First of all, Im nearly crying in a café as I type this. This play, mm, yes. Okay. To begin this review here are some of my favorite quotes or parts that I find hilarious. Franz: Sleep and death are but twinsTo obey is better than to sacrificeSchufterle: I took a good look, what was it? A baby, lying there as right as rain under the table, and the table just about to catch fire poor little brute! I said, youre freezing! and threw it into the flamesMoor:
"Be what thou wilt, thou undefined futurity, so I remain true to myself. Be what thou wilt, so I but take this inward self hence with me. External forms are but the trapping of the man. My heaven and my hell is within." Uneven to say the least - brilliant moments punctuate an unfathomable plot. My first steps into Herr Schiller... onwards!
Pretty sure this work was much better when it was released, and I would assume it is better if it is played in the theater.Somehow it just doesn't connect with today's reader, or at least me.There are nice themes and plot is good, it has all elements of good tragedy. Short, good, nothing too special.
This is what happens when someone with the word-power of one of the best of the best has a go at letting fly at a young age. You get the tidal wave, this sledge-hammer, this avalanche of feeling and injustice and raw emotion that Die Räuber is. Loved it when I was eighteen and preparing my final matric exams, loved it now that I reread it since my son chose it for his own final matric exams. Who cares if you he has to take a number of crazy short-cuts in the end the power of the speeches is so
This book was just... no. I'm sorry, but I just could not bring myself to struggle through this. Additionally this was a read for school, so I was rather unmotivated to make myself read this if I could be reading stuff I was genuinely interested in instead... Why can't teachers just pick some exciting books for a change...?
Finally filled this gap in my German lit education and am very happy I did. A great drama that lives up to that word.
