Possession (Possession #1)
But the Thinkers are unusually persuasive, and they're set on convincing Vi to become one of them ... starting by brainwashing Zenn. Vi can't leave Zenn in the Thinkers' hands, but she's wary of joining the rebellion, especially since that means teaming up with Jag. Jag is egotistical, charismatic, and dangerous—everything Zenn's not. Vi can't quite trust Jag and can't quite resist him, but she also can't give up on Zenn.
This is a game of control or be controlled. And Vi has no choice but to play.
Okay So the plot and the idea was very interesting. It seemed kind of cool you know: government taking over and stuff. The war thing and the goodies vs. baddies was cool too. I only wish that they were called something more complex you know not good vs. bad. Jag was a great character, he seemed like the only one in the novel though that was 3 dimensional. Violet was pretty flat as a character what with all of her indecisiveness and whining about Zenn & her dad & her mom & her sister
Vi knows the Rule: Girls don't walk with boys, and they never even think about kissing them. But no one makes Vi want to break the Rules more than Zenn...and since the Thinkers have chosen him as Vi's future match, how much trouble can one kiss cause? The Thinkers may have brainwashed the rest of the population, but Vi is determined to think for herself. But the Thinkers are unusually persuasive, and they're set on convincing Vi to become one of them...starting by brainwashing Zenn. Vi can't

Ugh! I seriously could NOT get into this book! The reader is thrown right away into this dystopian world in which the Goodies and the Baddies do not agree, obviously. The Thinkers are these brainwasher-types who fight and condemn freewill. The premise had promise (heh) but that's it. Once you start reading this book, it just...UGH! We get absolutely no world-building (and yes, I appreciate it when it happens in dystopian books!), no real reason to like Violet OR Jag, and Zenn is completely
I had a hard time getting into this book. I think the potential was there but it didn't grab me. I didn't feel connected with the characters and was getting frustrated with Violet, the leading heroin. This story is similar to Matched, The Giver and Dilirium. I just really wanted to like this book more but it just wasn't happening. It was just an okay read for me.
The main character, Violet lives in a split society of Goodies that live on Goodgrounds and Baddies from the Badlands. There's also a group of people called the Special Forces and an Association of Directors who are from Freedom, and even though it is a good thing to be free, Freedom is a bad place where the Thinkers are trained. Kind of confusing, right? The Thinkers, also referred to as Greenies, are the ones that categorize everyone and pretty much brainwash the Goodies by making them listen
Oy vey. What was going on in this book? Seriously. The first thing that comes to mind when I think of this book is unorganised. It reads like a first draft where Johnson just wrote whatever came to mind, and then didn't go back to fix the inaccuracies. Nothing makes sense, and there is no clear vision as to what's supposed to be happening. The world-building, in short, sucks balls. Then there's the characters. Holy crap, I hate Violet. She is dumber than Bella Swan in every way. The choices she

POSSESSIONVi is a young teenage girl, living in a hellish, overly controlled world. Her life is created for her by Thinkers (people who can read your thoughts and brainwash you into doing anything), but she wont stand for it. Vi is a rebellious girl, who is put into prison for breaking the rules too often. In the prison she meets a boy of the same age, Jag, and they realize they have an immediate connection. Jag and Vi stand up to the Thinkers and their brainwashed citizens and join a rebellionOkay So the plot and the idea was very interesting.
