Take Your Last Breath (Ruby Redfort #2)
Everyone’s favorite girl detective is back for a second mind-blowing installment, packed with all the off-the-wall humor, action, and friendship of the first book. This time, though, it’s an adventure on the wide-open ocean, and Ruby is all at sea. . . . Can she crack the case of the Twinford pirates while evading the clutches of a vile sea monster as well as the evil Count von Viscount? Well, you wouldn’t want to bet against her.
Well I wanted to like this series. I absolutely adore Child's picture books, but at page 68 I decided to pack it in. So far nothing has happened. I dont like the main character at all and in fact find the protag's characterisation discordant; a genius with poor grammar, mouthy but everyone loves her. But in the end there was just too much description, too much clever dialogue and a real lack of forward motion to the story. Such a shame really.
I liked it a lot better than the previous book! It follows the famous five and nancy drew books without being old fashioned or cliche. It was actually gripping at the end and the codes were very clever. But there was one thing I noticed.Ruby is a girl. And Clancy just happens to be a boy.And they were best friends. And 13.And the most romantic thing they do is Clancy has to piggyback Ruby in a extreme life or death situation. Huh.That was the only thing that kinda bothered me. Normal 13 year olds

Love me some Ruby Redfort. The wildly clever and intelligent teen does it again. I love decoding the codes in the book and I concure with Ruby that "raisins have no business being in breakfast cereal." I am on my way to reading the third installment of the Ruby Redfort series.Notes and quotes:p. 160 "Jeepers, Froghorn, did your mommy not love you enough? You got some serious ego issues, man."p. 203 "She remembered reading an article about something, something that might help her chase down the
I thought the book was very good, not as good as the first one as this one seemed to have more of a far fetched science fiction/fantasy genre than the first book. I would definitely recommend the series as the books are a decent size, appropriate for many ages and the content is not too heavy and the story line is easy and clear to follow. the detail (codes) in the book is an amazing extra touch that add to the experience of reading the novel. Ruby Redfort is a very dynamic character and i enjoy
Well, I picked this book up to feed the nostalgia that I felt when looking through the cover. I had only read the first two in the series and then stopped reading them randomly. So I began to read this one. Then I remembered why I had stopped reading the whole series, although I had loved the classic mystery type story I had worked out her best friend's name is Clancy Crew - Nancy Drew. I don't know why but that just makes me cringe and then the font is HUGE. I'm just not used to the simplistic

I enjoyed this book, however, I thought the pace of it was quite slow and a lot of the plot was quite repetitive. I thought the outcome of the plot was quite disappointing for the length of the book and the build-up to the solution of the many mysteries discussed. I thought I would be gripped from start to finish with this book as the blurb sounded very interesting, however, I was often left waiting for twists and turns in the book that never was delivered. I think children would want to readWell I wanted to like this series. I absolutely adore Child's picture books, but at page 68 I decided to pack it in. So far nothing has happened.
