This is a fresh take on the fantasy genre and would be a good one for lovers of elfin worlds or puzzle-solvers. The structure of the story is creative, and the author made an effort to do something unexpected and thought-provoking. Random thoughts provoked in me:I hate clingy, desperate women. Rose/Pebble/Dawn, etc. needs to get a grip. Asharal sure seems like an asshole to me. And yep, seems Im right. Im confused about a number of things. I actually went back to try to figure out a few of themAfter finishing this book, I realized that the desire to write a review came not so much out of courtesy to each author of the books I read, but to allow these erupting emotions of mine a chance to spill out so that I can be free of the turbulence that shook my soul after arriving at this book's conclusion. And so, before I offer my thoughts over the book as a whole, I need to vent! I am shocked! Thoroughly shocked! I am appalled too, angry and sad! What the main character did at the end made me
This isn't the type of book I normally read but someone recommended it so I gave it a shot. The story turned out to be interesting and full of twists. It was hard to follow at first but once you see how the author writes it draws you in.

I am blown away by this short novel! Not only did I enjoy this world filled with elves but the characters themselves were so vivid. The writing itself painted a clear picture and the way the story was structured was very creative and in my experience, original. It was a clever way of concealing a great mystery, which was revealed at the end and which came out of nowhere! I was so shocked by it and I wish I could go into detail about it but can't, not without giving the twist away. Very impressed
The Evening Tide tells the story of how the Sun Elf, Asharal Evening, rises to prominence when he takes the Sunchair from its current occupants. Through the eyes of both his most hated rival and an elvess he loves, readers will see two sides to the enigma that is Asharal's personality, allowing the reader to decide for themselves if Asharal is the hero his people have been waiting for or is just another villain. Entertaining, thought-provoking and unexpected!First off, I would like to assert that the plot line was rather clever and I understand why others thought so as well. Forsyth obviously took a lot of care in writing this book in a very unconventional way--and still managed to keep the logical elements one looks for. This flowed even to the end, where the reward did not disappoint. I have already started The Broken Rose and I am finding that one enjoyable as well. I want to know what the Highborns
While I enjoyed how the author wrote, his prose was so eloquent and definitely eluded an earlier more medieval time, the storyline wasn't as "mind blowing" as some of the previous reviews suggested. In fact, I found the ending kind of inevitable. There was no sudden revelation for me at all. What struck me was that other reviewers thought the ending WAS surprising. Anyhow, the storyline is fairly unique. I'd like to see more magic than there is, and how unique and different that magic might be
