Another day, another Fruits Basket. Sure this one had more depth, and I appreciated that. But it also felt kind of over-the-top. A bit forced and a bit trying too hard. I did like the flashback seen of the first meeting of Yuki and Tohru Honda. And Cinderella-ish was definitely okay-ish. I just want the story to finally move on. 3.5 of 5.In this volume we get a lot more backstory on Yuki's childhood, and the emotional and verbal abuse that he underwent from his parents and from Akito. Poor Yuki! Through all the memories that Yuki is fighting through, he realizes the nature of his true feelings for Tohru, and it was not quite what I expected! We also see a flashback to when Kyo and Yuki first met as children, so that was especially heart-wrenching since they've almost been tolerating each other lately. Kyo is mostly sulking and
Kyo is truly blossoming in this volume! I LOOVEEE what the characters are becoming. The art style is slowly changing, making each one person look older as if real life time is passing (which is pretty rare in anime/manga). These characters are turning out to be even more beautiful (mentally and physically) than I had remembered during my first read through. I am SO glad I chose to re-read these!!!!! Highly recommend!
I think this may be one of my favorite volumes of Fruits Basket. We learn more about Yuki's childhood and his connection to Tohru. You really do understand why Yuki acts the way he does. I really liked seeing the class play they put on, and some of the trouble they had with it. Tohru's really changing: she's still herself, and in a lot of ways, she's still the same Tohru we met at the beginning of the series. But she's also speaking up for herself a little more, which is great to see.I, of
That was the most amazing Cinderella ever.
The school play was absolutely adorable. I loved it. =)Reread review.. The play is still sterling the second time through. Absolutely glorious story. =)
3.5 stars.Well, Akytio is creepy as fuck, ain't he? Loved the character development we saw for Yuki. Glad to finally get some more depth to him & some backstory for him. Poor baby! :'( had such a rough time as a kid. :( & I wish he and Kyo could really see just how a like they really are. Learn to be friends. Or stop blaming each for shit that should really be blamed on their totally crappy parents.the play story was cute & funny. It was entertaining enough, but I do wish we could
